SINGAPORE: In line with its focus on sustainable technology development, Flextronics announced that Dr. Dongkai Shangguan, Flextronics' Vice President of Advanced Technology and Engineering Leadership, has been appointed to serve on Sustainable Electronics Manufacturing's (SEM) Working Group Board.
SEM is an industry-wide group of thought leaders from all segments of the electronics industry with the mission to promote a sustainable global electronics environment. As part of his advisory role, Dr. Shangguan will support the creation of SEM's global sustainability roadmap to 2015 and beyond. Dr. Shangguan will actively support SEM's mission through various conference engagements, including SEM's May 4, 2011 "Electronics Day" event in Nuremberg, Germany. At this event, Dr. Shangguan's presentation will highlight how technology and innovation can holistically enable and advance sustainable electronics manufacturing.
"The development of advanced technologies that support sustainability is one of my key engineering pursuits and one of the core missions of Flextronics, where we operate one of the most forward-thinking technology development programs in the industry. I am absolutely thrilled to participate on SEM's advisory team with its progressive approach toward a zero impact environment," said Dr. Dongkai Shangguan, Flextronics' VP of Advanced Technology and Engineering Leadership.
"From lead-free for electronics, seamless knitless molding to eliminate the need for painting for certain plastics enclosures, to DfE programs for sustainable design solutions, and to Clean Tech, Flextronics is truly a unique player in the industry and is well aligned with the mission of SEM."
