40,000 likely to participate in expanded SOLARCON China 2010

SHANGHAI, CHINA: The SEMI PV Group and Intersolar have co-organized the upcoming photovoltaic (PV) conference SOLARCON China in Shanghai on March 16-18, 2010.

Another strategic partnership with the 6th Annual China SoG Silicon and PV Power (CSPV) Conference will help SOLARCON China 2010 cover its 20,000 square meters of exhibiting space with more than 350 exhibitors. In total, over 40,000 domestic and international visitors are expected to attend the event which will focus on the latest market trends, advanced products, and comprehensive industry information for PV manufacturing.

Due to the Chinese government’s aggressive program of incentives to encourage the rapid growth of the PV industry, companies have recovered from last year’s slump as global demand rebounded. Preliminary data indicates that last year Chinese cell/module makers doubled their 2008 levels to reach 8,000MW solar cell capacity and produced over 4,000MW solar cells, representing 40 percent of the global total production.

Capitalizing on the strong government support and the expanding growth of the PV industry in China, SOLARCON China 2010 will cover all solar energy technologies and represent the entire solar energy supply chain, including: equipment and materials suppliers, cell and module manufacturers, balance of systems (BOS) suppliers (including inverters, tracking systems, integrators), distributors and project developers. SOLARCON China will also present theme areas featuring CIGS thin-film technology, Concentrated PV (CPV) technology and global PV standards.

The theme areas will allow both exhibitors and visitors to explore new technologies and possible business opportunities:
* Spotlight on CIGS- and a-Si- based Thin-Film Solar Cells.
* Concentrated Photovoltaic (CPV).
* Global PV Standards and Technology Roadmap.

CSPV conference is the most influential PV conference in China. It provides an international platform that encourages collaboration among companies along the entire PV manufacturing supply chain. Conference highlights include speakers from the Chinese Renewable Energy Society, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Department of Science and Technology, and the Bureau of Energy.

In addition, executives from Suntech, LDK Solar, Trina Solar, First Solar and JA Solar will present. Presentations at CSPV will focus on:
* Polysilicon manufacturing technology.
* Crystalline silicon growth and wafer processing.
* Solar cell technology, including crystalline silicon and thin-film solar cell (amorphous silicon, CIGS, and others).
* PV module and BIPV.
* PV systems and grid-connected PV systems.

In addition, half-day sessions will focus on: SEMI PV International Standards, finance and investment, market forums, and green photovoltaic manufacturing.
