Airvoice Group announces Rs 9 lakh crores ($200 billion) investment in clean energy

NEW DELHI, INDIA: The Airvoice Group, headed by its dynamic Chairman, Sanjay Kapoor, recently announced a total investment of Rs 9 lakh crores ($200 billion) in the clean energy sector.

The Group, which had announced the world’s largest Solar Power Project in Karnataka in early February, in the presence of Honorable MP from Bangalore North, Chadre Gowda, has announced an even bigger project in the clean energy sector, in the state of Rajasthan.

The proposed project in Rajasthan has a capacity of 40,000 MW of Solar Power and 10,000 MW of Wind Power. The project will generate a total of 40 billion units of power annually.

M.M. Vijayvergia, executive director of Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corp. Ltd (RRECL) said: “We are looking forward to such a huge investment in our State by your esteemed company. We assure you of our fullest cooperation for making your plant a huge success” vide Letter No. 13948 dated 10th March 2010."

Six districts in the State of Rajasthan viz Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jalor and Jaipur have been identified for the proposed project. Airvoice will complete the project in phases.

The first phase of the project will include 100 MW of solar and 500 MW of wind, which will start generating power in the next 2 years.

Sanjay Kapoor said, “Our group plans to far surpass the Prime Minister Shri. Manmohan Singhji's ambitious vision of 20,000 MW of Solar Power by 2020 as envisaged under the Jawaharlal Nehru Solar Mission.”

He feels while there is so much of talk on clean energy and need for reduction in carbon emission but there is very little visibility on the ground, and his group is committed to meet the power demands of the country. Not to mention the huge employment opportunity this would generate in the states where the projects are coming up.
