Standard Solar customer homes dominate area green home tours

ROCKVILLE, USA: Standard Solar Inc., a leader in the full-service development, installation and financing of solar electric systems for commercial, government and residential customers, announced that 37 of its customers will participate in two area solar home tours this weekend.

The 20th annual Metro Washington DC Tour of Solar Homes and Buildings, and the first Western Maryland Tour will both take place on Oct. 2 and 3, from 11 AM to 5 PM and will together feature more than 90 homes and buildings. With nearly 40 customer's homes featured on the tours, Standard Solar will have one of the largest representations of any solar company.

One of the 37 customer's homes that will be featured this weekend on the tour is Standard Solar customer Steele Lipe's. Lipe's Haymarket, Va. home recently had a 10.12 kW system installed, offsetting more than 12,700 pounds of carbon in the last year.

“This is the largest residential event in the DC/VA/MD area for our industry,” said Tony Clifford, CEO of Standard Solar and president of the Maryland, District of Columbia, Virginia Chapter of the Solar Energy Industries Association. “Standard Solar’s overwhelming customer participation further illustrates our expertise and strong position in the marketplace. We are thrilled to have so many of our satisfied customers account for such a large part of this event and help promote solar energy through the region.”

The metro Washington DC tour will feature more than 70 homes with a variety of solar designs, green technologies and sustainable living concepts. The Western Maryland tour will include 24 solar and green buildings in Frederick and Washington counties and West Virginia, including farms, a pharmacy and an historic renovation.
