Algatec Solar Ontario to manufacture high quality and high performance solar PV modules in Windsor-Essex

PROESEN, GERMANY & WINDSOR-ESSEX, CANADA: Algatec Solar Ontario Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of Algatec Solar AG, a large solar module manufacturer based in Germany, announced its plans to establish a manufacturing facility in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The 50,000 square foot facility will be located at 3126 Devon Drive in Windsor, Ontario.

Rainer Ruschke, CEO of Algatec Solar stated: “Algatec Solar Ontario will install highly automated production equipment for manufacturing silicon based photo voltaic modules. We are pleased to announce that we are investing more than $10 million CDN in the Ontario operation. The first phase of operation will see 50 MW of PV modules being manufactured and the plant will employ 100 employees. At a later date, the second phase of operation will be added and is likely to add another 100 employees.”

ALGATEC Solar AG operates two manufacturing factories in Germany with a combined annual solar PV module capacity of 120 MW. The company is a high quality module supplier in the German and European solar market. Algatec intends to supply the Ontario and rest of the Canadian market with modules made in the Windsor plant. It also intends to serve the USA market from the Windsor plant.

Windsor’s location, availability of skilled manpower, leadership in Green technologies and strong local support has led to Algatec’s decision to locate the plant in the region.
