AUO includes South Africa's first 1.2 MW solar project

HSINCHU, TAIWAN: The world's leading provider of display and solar solutions, AU Optronics, announced that it is the first 1.2 MW solar project in South Africa EKSOM, the largest facility in South Africa before the 17th Conference of Member Nations of the United Nations 2011 (Conference of the Parties - COP 17) has completed successfully.

The project includes a tracking system in Lethabo PV system and a ground-mounted PV system in Kendal. Through the use of high performance solar panel from AUO SunForte PM318B00 can generate 2.2 million kWh of two turbines for 1,500 households. It is AUO's first expansion into the African market at the end of a close-5MW project, the largest solar park in the United Kingdom. To meet the needs of customers worldwide meet, AUO will strive for continuous improvement of the capacity of its high performance PV modules.

South Africa is not only the host of COP17, but recently also proactively developed its renewable energy and directs his first local solar installation project. It is a 1.2 MW project, which includes two power plants. A turbine is a 600 kW PV system tracking system with AUO's module highpowered SunForte PM318B00 in Lethabo, which can produce 1.2 million kWh for 800 households. In the second system is a floor-mounted 600-kW PV system in Kendal, which can produce 1,000,000 kWh for 700 households in the nearby region.

AUO has begun 2008 with the development of its solar business and has a high performance vertical solar value chain developed to provide customers with high quality modules and services for solar energy projects. With its global operations and its local delivery AUO's module capacity occupied the leading position in Taiwan.

The company specializes in high-performance solar modules, which are widely known and popular. AUO's back-content modules that achieve a conversion rate of over 19.5 percent of capacity, were successful in Taiwan produced. To meet the demand for highly efficient energy suppliers and large projects from Asian customers, AUO will increase its capacity in the first quarter of 2012 by more than 50 MW.

AUO's business strategy is "Worldwide operations, local delivery". The PV plant of the company in the Czech Republic has recently received certification by the ICIM Italy's and Germany's TUV Rheinland honor to his "Made in Europe" modules. AUO's high performance modules have a very good quality and are very popular in Europe. The capacity of the PV system in the Czech Republic is currently fully exploited. The company will install new equipment in the Czech PV system and thus increase the capacity for this quarter, to edit the European orders.

In addition to increasing the engine capacity is AUO's module technology and the latest global green trends. AUO is taking the lead in the field of development and introduction of high-quality, lead-free manufacturing processes in solar panels. In addition, it has successfully completed the UL1703 certification in the US receive.

Customers are offered clean and environmentally friendly solar products, so as to reduce the impact on the natural environment. AUO will continue to deliver high-performance, high quality, lead-free and environmentally friendly solar panels as well as individual, class and complete solar solutions to its customers.
