Plextronics achieves ISO 9001:2008 certification

PITTSBURGH, USA: Plextronics Inc. has achieved ISO 9001:2008 certification. The company was awarded this designation by ABS-QE for its compliance with quality process standards and effective quality management systems in the production and other operations related to conductive polymers and inks for use in printed electronic applications.

This certification positions the company to deliver high-quality ink products to the printed electronics industry.

Plextronics' CEO Andy Hannah said: "This is a tremendous accomplishment and is directly attributable to the great teamwork of everyone in our company. Customers around the world are demanding this level of excellence and quality as they scale-up their manufacturing capabilities and the use of our materials increases along with it. We are ready for that level of growth and our quality processes – including this certification – demonstrates our ability to deliver quality products."

"This was important to us and our customers so we underwent a rapid and intense nine-month schedule to secure the certification. The advantages of what we've learned and the processes we've put in place – operational excellence, on-time delivery and consistent products – underscores Plextronics' commitment to quality assurance, " said Quality Manager Don Hodo. "Even more importantly, it supports our culture of continual improvement and customer satisfaction."

ISO 9001 is an internationally-recognized standard developed by the International Organization of Standardization that defines requirements for the implementation of quality systems in operational procedures. The standard applies uniformly to companies in any industry and of any size, and applies to industries involved in the design and development, manufacturing, installation, and servicing of products.

Plextronics specializes in printed solar, lighting and other organic electronics. Its focus is on organic light emitting diodes (OLED) and organic solar technology, specifically the conductive inks and process technologies that enable those and other similar applications.
