Heraeus increases capacity worldwide

Intersolar North America 2011, WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, USA: The Heraeus Photovoltaic Business Unit, a world leader in developing front and back-side silver pastes for crystalline solar cells, continues to increase its capacity in 2011 with five expansions worldwide. With the completion of all five sites, production capacity will increase by approximately 300 percent from 2010.

Over the past year, Heraeus completed the expansion of its US facility in West Conshohocken, PA as well as the construction of its facility in Singapore, which is now fully operational, with expansions continuing throughout 2011 into 2012. An increase in capacity in Germany is also underway and will be completed by the end of this year. Heraeus has also begun expanding its Shanghai production facility, which is to be completed and fully operational by Q2 in 2012. Adhering to a busy expansion schedule, the Taiwan facility is the next project, which will begin production in 2012.

“For Heraeus, these expansions are representative of our company’s global initiative to expand our photovoltaic business on an international level,” said Andy London, VP of Heraeus Materials Technology LLC in West Conshohocken. “With the opening and expansion of these five facilities we are optimistic about our company’s future success.”
