VERONA, ITALY: Solyndra Inc., a manufacturer of innovative cylindrical photovoltaic (PV) systems for commercial rooftops, and Enerqos Group, a leading Italian supplier of solar systems and plants, announced the completion of a 200 kWp project for Nova Coop, one of the largest distribution chains in the Piedmont region of Italy.
A rooftop installation in Villa Dossola, in the Vibo Valencia province of Italy, was connected at end of April and represents the first phase of a multi-store installation project.
“Nova Coop is showing strong leadership and demonstrating their commitment to the environment by utilizing unused roof-top space to generate solar energy,” said Clemens Jargon, Solyndra’s Managing Director for Europe. “We are pleased to be working with the Enerqos Group to implement our unique solar technology on what will ultimately be more than 15 Nova Coop distribution centers in Italy.”
Enerqos has implemented the Solyndra system through its Industrial Roof Business Unit and with the help of local partner, PhotoVoltaic Systems.
"Solyndra offers many benefits for our customers including superior wind performance, light weight and fast installation,” commented Giovanni Landi, head of Enerqos’ Industrial Roofs Business Unit of Enerqos. "Working closely with Solyndra we are able to deliver the lowest balance of system costs and best return on investment for our customer, Nova Coop."
The Solyndra panels use thin-film technology and cylindrical modules which capture sunlight across a 360-degree photovoltaic surface capable of directly converting, diffusing and reflecting sunlight into electricity. Using these panels in an industrial rooftop photovoltaic installation allows more energy to be generated and significantly reduces installation costs.
