Applied Chemical Labs offers chemicals and services for PV manufacturing

SUNNYVALE, USA: Applied Chemical Laboratories Inc., an innovator in eco-friendly chemicals for semiconductor wafer fabrication, flat panel displays and magnetic recording media, has launched a program to support production of photovoltaic (PV) products.

PV manufacturers are offered a combination of high-purity electronic grade process chemicals, research and development services for formulation of proprietary chemistry, and chemical manufacturing services. Applied Chemical Laboratories employs best manufacturing practices to assure all products meet high standards of purity and consistent quality for repeatable process results and high product yield.

Products include ultra-pure silicon and glass substrate cleaners known to improve device performance and inhibit light induced degradation (LID), photoresist strippers, photoresist developers, TMAH-based photoresist developers, and texturing etchants. Applied Chemical also supplies doped dielectric and spin-on glass (SOG) materials, alternative eco-friendly manufacturing chemicals, and CIGS-specific custom blends.

All products are available in 1 and 5 gallon HDPE bottles and 55 gallon drums. Silicon Valley customers are offered a number of delivery options including intermediate bulk containers (IBC) and semi-bulk packaging.

“We have been providing high purity, performance-based chemistry for semiconductor and other high technology applications for more than 20 years,” said Dr. Javad Sahbari, CTO of Applied Chemical and a pioneer in safe alternative chemistry.

“Expertise gained meeting stringent requirements of the semiconductor industry will benefit our customer as demand grows for specialized photovoltaic chemicals. Our Silicon Valley roots, domain expertise and proximity to advanced photovoltaic manufacturers enable us to offer quick turn solutions for evolving PV technology.”

Photovoltaic chemicals are developed at the company’s Silicon Valley R&D facility and applications laboratory, where the research staff also helps customers develop and characterize their proprietary process-enabling chemistry. Other services include custom manufacturing -- from laboratory scale to volume production -- and synthesis and purification of custom chemistry.
