Aquion Energy elects leader

PITTSBURGH, USA: Aquion Energy Inc., developer and manufacturer of Aqueous Hybrid Ion (AHI) batteries and energy storage systems, announced the election of energy industry veteran Tom McDaniel to the board of directors.

"Aquion's high performance, low cost, environmentally friendly and safe energy storage technology is uniquely positioned to accelerate the use of energy storage in distributed grid-connected and off-grid energy systems," said Tom McDaniel. I am pleased to join the Aquion team and help solidify the company's position in the rapidly growing global energy storage market."

McDaniel brings over 40 years of experience in the energy industry to Aquion's board of directors. Mr. McDaniel spent 37 years with Edison International (NYSE: EIX), a publicly traded company with $48 billion in assets, where he served as chief financial officer and treasurer.

EIX's subsidiaries include Southern California Edison, a regulated utility, and the Edison Mission Group, an independent power company that develops, owns and operates US-based generation projects involving both fossil fuels and renewables. Prior to January 1, 2005, McDaniel served as chairman, CEO and president of Edison Mission Energy, an independent power producer based in California.
